8 Must-Try Sushi Restaurants Near Tulane's Campus
"The team at Warehouse District food hall Auction House has an on-trend new cocktail menu for summer, offering a Kalimotxo that marries the traditional Basque punch and a Whiskey Sour; a Barcelona style G&T with gin, El Guapo tonic, thyme, clove, house tincture, and grapefruit; and the cloudy Pau Hana, made with rum, manzanilla sherry, lime, banana and pimento dram. The bright, plant-filled space makes for a nice setting to sip drinks, and there’s are new happy hour specials weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m."
"I actually went here twice because of its location, and it’s obviously got some delicious options. It was only a few minutes walk from our first hotel, Loews New Orleans, and also near the WWII Museum. The food hall is from the same team that’s behind the more well known St. Roch Market, and it has a number of different vendors."
"I've enjoyed everything from the Yum Woon Sen Noodles at Long Chim Thai Street Food to a Bibimbap Salad at Happy Jaxx to empanadas from Empanola Empanadas at Auction House Market ... all super delicious!"
"Pan American Life Center, 601 Poydras St., Suite B, (504) 608-3474; www.servingsushi.com/new_orleans. Asian chicken salad combines citrus-marinated chicken breast, arugula, spinach, spring greens, tomato, cucumber, carrot, avocado, fried ramen noodles, roasted peanuts, radish, orange supremes, red onion, enoki mushrooms and yuzu cilantro vinaigrette."
"They have such creative rolls, like the Munchie Roll crusted with Nacho Cheese Dorito’s. Who knew salmon and Dorito’s could go well together?. If the 38 sushi rolls and 12 Nigiri options don't appeal to you, the chef is willing to make whatever you’d like– just take a seat at the sushi bar and let him know what you're craving."
"And then there's Tsunami Sushi, a Central Business District favorite with four stars out of 232 reviews. Stop by 601 Poydras St., Suite B to hit up the sushi bar, cocktail bar and Asian fusion spot next time you're in the mood. “I love grocery shopping,” said no one, ever."
"Located at 1913 Royal St. in Marigny, the sushi bar and bar, which offers ramen and more, is the highest-rated sushi spot in New Orleans, boasting 4.5 stars out of 129 reviews on Yelp."
"Chicken, shrimp, beef or pork top spicy miso broth ramen with naruto fish cake, egg, seaweed, mushrooms, bamboo shoots and green onions."
"Don’t let the plain Jane sign outside this Gentilly BYOB scare you away. Good Time sushi and hibachi is a cute little neighborhood sushi place with fresh options and good service. The lunch menu is cheap, cheap, and specialty rolls, like the “good time” and “the tiger,” are generous of portion and fresh."
"Situated along Lake Pontchartrain is a restaurant that boasts lovely sunset views and delicious food to enjoy it with. The lakefront restaurant offers a traditional New Orleans menu, including local favorites with a twist. Brisbi’s is one of a handful of restaurants that combines a cool breeze and dining."
"Located just around the corner from the Blue Crab, Brisbi’s offers a similar experience with Lakefront dining and outdoor seating. Take in the sunset from one of their many outdoor tables. Photo courtesy: Brisbi’s Lakefront Restaurant"
"West End/Lakeshore: Like Blue Crab, a menu that focuses on the West End seafood houses of yore. Great seafood, drinks, and views."
"Crawfish is synonymous with the city of New Orleans so naturally consuming this insect of the ocean is a must in NOLA.There are quite a few really good places to get your crawfish fix however Bevi Seafood Co would have to be one of the best places for seafood. This neighborhood seafood market has locations in Mid-City and Metaire and offers live and boiled crawfish throughout crawfish season (December through June)."
"Carrollton Ave., (504) 488-7503; 4701 Airline Drive, Metairie, (504) 885-5003; www.beviseafoodco.com. A Smokey oyster po-boy features fried Louisiana oysters, smoked Gouda cheese and pastrami bacon."
"Since it opened in October 2013, this delightful shop on Magazine Street and Jackson Avenue has been making all of New Orleans’ donut and coffee dreams come true. With flavors like miso praline and olive oil, NOLA cream, brown butter pistachio, Sriracha with candied thyme, lemon poppyseed, and Vietnamese iced coffee, District is serious about its roster of “fancy donuts.” In addition to donuts big enough for two, District’s other breakfast creations include kolaches, pork belly, egg and avocado breakfast tacos, and buttermilk biscuit egg sandwiches with miso-praline bacon. Plus, their cinnamon roll is topped with extra sugar and brûléed under a blow torch, which is pretty awesome if you ask me."
"Ginger Mint Julep Donut from District Donuts Stroll down the lower Garden District part of Magazine Street for great shops and more restaurants. Except, you’ll be full from your meal so you can check out District Donuts for dessert and coffee. Trust us, you’re going to want to leave room to try at least one donut here or get a box to go."
"District Doughnuts Breakfast is known to be the the most important meal of the day. However, I call it sugary beginnings. At @districtdonuts you can pick..."
"Poydras & Peters is a restaurant in LOEWS, so we had lunch here one day. The name comes from its location, and it features a number of classic American dishes with a twist. I’m pretty sure I had the duck & oysters dish."
"Address: 801 Royal StreetNew Orleans, LA 70116Phone: (504) 581-0801Website. Set in the heart of the French Quarter, the cafe features a vampire-themed atmosphere and gothic style decor, inspired by the mystique of New Orleans. Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, the menu includes salads, seafood, steaks, and southern classics like shrimp and grits."
"While you could easily spend another day or two in the heart of the city, I recommend getting out to the countryside and seeing another part of Louisiana: the Bayou. Most swamp tours are located at least an hour outside of the center and offer round trip transport at an extra charge. We went with Cajun Encounters on aboat ride through the famous Honey Swamp. While on the tour, we spotted multiple (!!) alligators as well as several species of birds, raccoons, and more."
"Gulf shrimp Ya-Ya pasta includes grape tomatoes sauteed in Cajun pesto over penne pasta and is served with garlic toast. Reservations accepted. Lunch, dinner and late-night daily."
